I would stick with Metisse, considering it is French for Mongrel.

I made some replica Munch front drums,

one is fitted on a commando 850

the bloke is not far from here and will get
a picture of the front end i set up,

i was not going to think i would work
but the bike stops good,

The castings are AZ91 magnesiumm

liner is shrunk in .

the drum is approx same size as a TZ YAMAHA,
BUT IT WORKS BETTER THANN A TZ DRUM,
I THINK THOSE SUCKERS GROW TOO MUCH

Actually the double sided 4LS TZ or TD front brake by design is far more resistant to brake fade or "growth" than a single sided 2LS Munch front brake. Drum brakes have a tendency to bellmouth when hot which in turn causes brake fade. The reason for this is that as the drum / liner expands it creates a taper toward the open unsupported backing plate end of the liner. As this distortion increases shoes no longer contact the liner evenly decreasing the braking efficiency. The 4LS double sided design combats this distortion by moving the support to the center of the drum where it is most useful, essentially splitting the drum into two separate shallower brake liners more resistant to bellmouthing. This combined with the larger surface area of the TD brake means it is has a higher braking efficiency especially at temp.

Model OD x shoe width Swept area

Radius x S.A.
(square inches)

Yamaha drum brake
TD3 (260mm) 10.29" x 1.06" (x2) 68.53 braking coefficient = 352.6

Munch
Mammut 2LS 10.0" x 2.0" 62.83 braking coefficient = 314.1
