Hi, Does anybody know if Megacycle Cams are contactable by email? On there website they have a fax no., which I don't have.
I'm trying to get some info/settings on a pair of cams made by them for the Triples, which I can't find any reference to.
Do they welcome queries about their older products.[The cams appear to be made in 1994].
Any advice welcomed.
Cheers, Ken.

Hi Ken,
I think your best bet would be to contact Phil Pick at Triple Cycles in London, he's got contacts at Megacycle, but he may also be able to tell you what the cam is straight off.

Cheers

Bob

Ken,

You could contact Megacycle by phone, however, my experience with the lady who is the front person is that she is very unhelpful to say the least if you are a small time customer, rather than a dealer.

And she won't let you talk to anyone else. frown

I think the best bet as has already been suggested, and you have taken-up on, is to have a dealer contact Megacycle on your behalf if he doesn't already know the answer.

Hope you can get Phil Pick to help you bigt

According to Barbara (the lady that Britbodger refers to), Megacycle does not usually accept emails from individuals.

She is, however, quite nice, knowledgeable, and helpful to me.
Britbodger must have rubbed her the wrong way. smile tired grin

Stop the insanity.

Talked with Barbara at length today---no problems except she was on an international call at the same time.
Maybe she can't understand you BB!?!

Unless things have changed recently, Philip has not been available for quite some time now. He is working at the college where his brother teaches. He has not been interested in his old business or many old friends.
A potential contact for more details about the cams Philip used you might contact Richard Pecket of P&M Cycles

Megacycle catalogue from the period mentioned lists these cams for the Triples:
511-05 .345" cam lift
511-x5 .375" cam lift
511-35 .346" cam lift
511-75 .400" cam lift
511-95 .400" cam lift

If your cam sports any of these ID#s tell me and I will post the timing figures.
john

HI, Many thanks for all the replies. The cams do seem to be a bit of a mystery. The no. on them is 511-51B, followed by 3-94, which I assumed was the manufacturing date. I've done searches and nothing has come up, I also posted a query on the Triple Board a few weeks ago, but nobody seems to know what they are.
I am considering using them in a T150 with a Hyde 1000 fitted, but I was wondering whether they were designed to give their best power at high revs only, & might be a bit intractable lower down the rev range.
Once again, thanks for the help.
Cheers, Ken.

Along with the items in their catalog, Megacycle does custom and one-off cams, which is probably what you have. They do keep records on these, but since they don't do email, the only way to find out what you have is to phone or fax.

Hi 2ndchildhood, Yes it's starting to look that they might be 'specials'. I'm a real tightwad with the phone [I won't even phone mobiles/cell phones!!], so it looks like I'll have to find somebody with Fax to contact them. Or I could try snailmail?
Cheers, Ken.
