Anyone out there with a interest in early AJS singles . Have had a matching number engine and tranny for several years now . First numbers on the brass plate are G8 . Found a very rusty frame at the CVMG Rally in Paris this year . First number is M . Believe the motor to be a 1926 and frame to be 32 or older . I has been said that a few letters were not used such as I and J in the serial numbers .
Have repaired the frame , front end and seat . Gave it a quick touch up with the mud and a squirt with a rattle can . Made some engine plates and bolted the pieces together . Looks pretty good now , although no where near the correct motor in the correct frame .
Question is does anyone have any info they can give me . I hope to be able to bring this bike back to Paris next year to show the guy that I bought the frame from that even junk dug up from the ground can be brought back to some sort of new life . Story was a farmer found a pipe sticking up thru the ground and as he started to pull on it found it to be a handlebar attached to most of a bike minus motor, tranny , rear wheel and most of the front rim and fenders . Gas tank is full of bullet holes to go along with the major rust holes .
I took several pictures of the rusted remains before doing the cleanup . Can not figure out how to get them on the Forum . Can send a couple off to private e-mail though if anyone is interested . John Ruff

Was at a automotive flea market and a fellow offered up a frame . Turned out to be another AJS . This may be a `29 . Had sat for a long time on it`s side in the weeds . Rims rusted away , side of gas tank rusted thru . No motor but the tranny is there .
Have robbed the fenders and fitted them to the previous project . Put a new back in the oil tank and am ready to fit it back to the rear fender . (the `26 motor would have had total loss I think , with a hand pump on fuel - oil tank) Found a mag at a swap meet . Not a Lucas , have good spark , should be able to make it work once the mounting is figured out .
It is coming along . John

Trying to send a picture of the latest AJS find . I think it is a 1929 250cc . Pretty good condition despite the fact that it layed outside on it`s side for enough years to rust thru the gas tank and oil tank . Have robbed the fenders for the `26 project , may also rob the hubs .

Here is a picture of the 1926 AJS as installed in the frame picked up this year at the CVMG Rally . Made up the motor mounts and removed a bit of the frame castings where the mounts go .
