Oops, sorry Morgan, Cancel that last comment from me... My error.
I had clicked on the poster, not the thread. Of course the system took me to that post and the reply box, as it should.
BTW, it took 6 log-ins to add this correction. Regards, KC

Morgan, Any chance we can still have our old "joined up" numbers show like they used to? Some of us old Pit Stop guys enjoyed that. KC

Well. If you ride British, can you still qualify as a Luddite? I am not a fan of change for change's sake - probably why I ride the Notrun more than I ride the Honda ST. That being said, my vote on the new format is that "it's no worse than anyone else's." I can find my way around . . . but I could on the old one, too. What's the driving force for "new" - what will the avg guy see as a benefit? One thing I am missing already is that when I used the old format with my browser (Firefox), each topic that I visited changed color, so I could see where I had already been - a handy tool for an old frat like me, who tends to forget things easily. Is that some sort of setting I can restore? If we were all antiprogress, we probably wouldn't be using the Internet in the first place. Still, I was comfy with the old Board, and if I could vote right now I would say "go back." Since that ain't gonna happen, I'll learn the new. Grudgingly.

old-grizz ,
I was forced to leave the other forum for several reason but two major was it was not compatible with the new server and there was no support since june 2006, meaning a crash and no forum. I barily avoided that. There are many new features with thus new and because I was forced to chage so quickly I had to launch this before it was programmed for old BritBike farts such as us. you know rigid old men... grin
eventually you will see more and better features and the design will be better I to want the link color to change. all in good time
i'm alone doing this with a fulltime job aside and tight now restoring my daughter new flat so I have no clue how i found time to reply this much... wink

Morgan,

Thanks for all the time you've put into this project! I haven't looked into all the whys and hows of it, but I'll assume that it is all for the best.

My only gripe so far is that if I am not logged in to begin with, and then see a post I want to reply to, I can't just do it from that page like I could on the old site. I have to log in, which takes me back to the main page, and then I have to scroll down to the right forum, and then scroll down to the right post, and then go to the end of the thread, and THEN I can see the button that says "REPLY". It seems to me that there haven't been nearly as many posts since the switch, and that could be one of the reasons.

Anyway, I hate to be critical when someone has put so much effort into something, but I also want this forum to be as good as possible.

Thanks!

John

confused

Morgan:

I tried access the Forum in the usual way by:

http://www.britbike.com./

Up comes the new front page; so far so good!

If I read all the thumbnails and get to the bottom of the page, the last sentence is:

Quote:

Click here to visit the BritBike Forum.

Unquote.

If I click on either of these links, I am redirected to the following site:

http://webapps.myregisteredsite.com/frozen-redirect.html

Where the message is:

Quote:

This site does not exist within the LDAP database.

Unquote.

I have to use my browser’s back button to return to the front page and enter the forum via the link at the top centre:

Quote:

BritBike Forum

Unquote

Which brings me to:

http://www.britbike.com/forums/ubbthreads.php

Which works, thankfully.

I guess you may already be aware of the problem.

Keep up the good work!

Mike

I realise it may not have been used very much, but is there any other reason why there is no longer a separate forum for AJS & Matchless motorcycles? They might not have the attraction of the sportier marques but there are still a lot of everyday bikes around.

Glad to see y'all back. I really missed checking in each day.
The new format works great and it's F-A-S-T too!!

One thing, why do we have to log-in at least twice? Once when coming to the site (w/the "Remember Me" box checked) and again to post a message. I was hoping this had gone away with the new setup.

Morgan,

Thank God you're back! I really missed the forum. I know you'll keep fine tuning it and we'll all learn our way around the new format.

It isn't me being blind after all. If I look at the forum list before logging in I can't the the AJS section. When I log in it is there. So I suppose I'll have to log in every time ~I want to see it, which isn't onerous, but why is it different from the other single marque sections?

Hi Morgan,

I'm getting so many problems now - four or five attempts to use the shout box after logging in, Getting 'this page cannot be displayed' when I try to change page, getting looged out really quickly some days but staying logged in all day on others.

Not moaning, just reporting.

HTH

Blapper redwine

PS - HAH - I just got "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when I posted this!

Morgan. You hurt my feelings, bitch, by never answering my response to your call for writers/contributors. My god, man, have you no conscience? No higher nature?
