And I guess that picture answers my question in your other topic.
Is that a Joe Hunt Magneto? Interesting setup. Someone went to a lot of trouble to get that thing on there.
You might want to replace that scrunchy looking K and N while you've got your carb off to rebuild it.

Hey! Im not rebuilding my carb. That filter is a K&N. Its fine, only scrunchy cuz it doesnt really fit tween the oilbag. Its got good flow.
Its a Fairbanks-Morse magneto. It comes off and on pretty easy.

it's metal vibtrating against metal, just a matter of time before one or both develop a hole

When given the choice between two evils I picked the one I haven't tried before

That's a mean looking machine you have there! I like the look of that magneto.

Hmmm, K and N does make a "pancake" filter to replace those flat round ones seen on some twin carb BSA's and Triumphs. Prolly fits in there pretty good.
Dunno about the metal against metal part though. The picture's dissappeared, so I can't check it, but it does seem like all the K and N's I've seen have rubber ends. It would still be better to find something that fits without scrunching if you can.
