We have been putting together our own Electra Performance Kit for our Royal Enfield motorcycle family, and think we have found a winning solution. We have been working with a company that has developed a reasonably priced performance carburetor just for our vintage British style bike. It is a 30mm Kehin type carburetor which has a chrome flat slide and passes fuel like a 32mm without the disadvantages of a larger venturi size. Using this carburetor and our performance RE Classic Exhaust System we have found a combination that not only produces more HP, but also more torque throughout the entire RPM range. You can often lose something like low-end torque with a larger carburetor, but this system is all gain, no pain. We have also tested a similar combination on the regular Bullet with great results. The kit includes the RE Classic Exhaust System, the Flat-Slide Carburetor and Jet Kit, a K&N Pancake Air Filter, a Throttle Cable, all necessary bolts and spacers. Note: The restrictive Air Box and OEM Air Filter (designed on the Electra in particular for pinnacle fuel economy) is replaced with the free-flowing K&N Pancake Air Filter to make the flat-slide carb work efficiently for your Electra. It comes with an exhaust header, but no silencer/muffler.

After a lot of work on the road and dyno we have come up with this simple performance kit which has been developed purely for the 500 Electra. The standard Electra develops just 17bhp at the rear wheel. The standard engine is designed to run very weak and therefore is manufactured to meet this criteria. We have tried tuning the standard CV carb, but have been unable to get satisfactory results when compared to the AMAL
. The standard air filter box is very restrictive and whilst it will supply enough air for the standard CV carburetter it will not work with the AMAL
version so it is essential that the supplied S&B air filter is used. The 1st part of this is the carburetter kit. It comprises of a 32mm MK1 AMAL Concentric
carburetter, CNC machined alloy manifold adaptor and special fixings, cables, choke lever, S&B air filter and all necessary gaskets and fixings. The 2nd part of the kit is the exhaust pipe. The standard exhaust pipe, again is designed to restrict the flow to make this a lean burn engine and this restricts any potential performance gain. Our replacement exhaust pipe has no restrictions. The 3rd part of the kit is a plug to blank off the PAV fitting on the cylinder head, again it is essential that the PAV system is removed. This kit increases the power at the rear wheel to 23.7bhp. An increase of nearly 40% and this retains the standard Indian made silencer. There is still a small gain to be made if the silencer is replaced as well. This gives more performance gains than similar kits available!
