It looks great as it is but if you must fit a UK tank then make sure it's the 'blob' and not the 'breadbin' Meriden fitted the blob to UK/RoW models from 1981 on and on US models (except TSX) from 1982 on The sidepanels matched the tank (see US example below)
At the end of the day, of course, it's up to you ...
I'm looking for ideas that might even make it look pretty A paintjob like my export tank would be nice , but I'm not sure if the white 'swooshes' would work or if white 'panels' would be better . Maybe just red/black - but I think it may make the tank look a bit plain
Anyone got any ideas or pics of anything similar ?

I have a `79 Bonnie with the bread box tank. It is black with a metallic red disign on the side that looks like a longated Z. Like it alot. My question for anyone familiar with that tank is what does the part that holds it down in the front look like? Is there a part # or is one available anywhere? I fabed one,but would like to find correct one or at least know what it looks like? Thanks...JR

Junior AFIK there is nothing holding the front "down". The threaded bolt holes in the front underside are for a simple strap that ties the two sides together to help prevent vibration cracking. So you can easily make one. It is important that the only thing the tank contacts are the two rubbers on the frame and the central mounting rubber on a bolt. The strap is app. 1 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick steel. I think aluminum is better and have made two so far Why not post a picture of yours for the painting ideas of this thread..
Stop the insanity.

Sorry BrianFromOZ I screwed that post up. Cant help you with the color as it was painted years ago. I am now having the fenders painted to match but he's mixed the colors with a computer so no off the shelf color.
Hi Blapper, A very good biker buddy of mine is doing the work. He is a pro car painter and does bikes in his spare time - strictly 'friends and family' though . His own bikes have won shows up here in bonny (Bonnie !) Scotland - big jap 'streetfighter'style things , but he also has a '64 3TA and a brand new Hinkley Street-triple. So he speaks our language

IMHO the finest paint job for the breadbox tank is the red and cold white shown on Brian's tank. It is described in J.R.Nelson's book; "Bonnie", as just that: Red and cold white or poly-red and cold white from 73 to 76.
