Help, could I convert 3TA engine to 500cc using T100R cylinder head?

do you mean head and barrels & pistons? if you think changing the head can increase it to 500cc suggest you leave it alone as would require a little more mechanical knowledge

Hi, I have done this, but you need the head, barrels, pistons AND conrods from the 500.

I meant cylinder head, barrels, pistons, valves, rockers everything and mechanic who will do it. But since I should provide the parts I wonder if I could do conversion to 500 cc using Daytona T100R cylinder head instead 5TA head since I heard that this two are not the same.

Best regards

Did you noticed any problems, issues with reliability etc?

Best regards

Should not be any problems with this, no need to change the timing side bearing, its the same bearing on 350-500. I think the clutch have 1 more plate and probably higher gearing.

Good luck!

Thats the reason there aren't many 3TA's still about, they seem to get wrecked by the conversion.

For the extra clutch plate you need the deeper basket, to accomodate this you need the deeper chaincase, you need a larger carb, jets are different, ignition advance range is different, and as stated, barrels, pistons, rings, rods, head, maybe a set of B.E. shells, TS bearing, I believe the camshafts are different.

All in all a way to throw money at an engine in order to break it.

99% of carb problems are electrical.

I saw acouple of conversions back about '68,'70
that involved puting a sportsters cams, lifters,
and complete top end on to a 45 flatheads cases!

They ran like a turpintined tom cat for a while, but all of them eventually grenaded, that bottom end just was not capable of standing up to all the improvments to the top end

I am not so familiar with the 3TA but I'll bet that the same situation would apply
