OK BSA and Britbike enthusiast, be forwarned that offensive language anywhere in a post on this site will not be tolerated. Do not try and be cute and put these in places of origin or any place they can be viewed by the members on this site. Use some common sense this is not that kind of board. I will continue to delete post that are offensive or attack other members. Do this offsite if you feel cussing is necessary. Contact me off site if you feel I have been unjustified or post it here if you can keep it civil.

Cheers

Mike Carter

Well, Mike, I'm a pretty firm believer in freedom of speech and expression (good ole A-merican values). However, I agree that this forum is not the place for trash talk. This is a good place to go to ask quesitons and get (too many) answers. I will offer up this option for those members who simply MUST cuss when they talk about British bikes...

http://www.tonup.com/phpBB2

We have no restrictions, but be careful who you mess with, cause they may come find you in real life! mad

Cheers,

LTR

BTW, we do have "bad words" on our forum, but they are not the ones you are thinking about. They include: Vespa, Mods and scooter. Type them in a message and see what happens.

Back in the 60's we always refered to our motocycles as "scooters". eek Guess it was just a local NY/NJ thing back then.

Thanks, Mike,

Most of us appreciate the difference between just cussing now and then, and using words to attack one another. My problem with rude language is that it's usually used to provoke a response from someone--in other words, sitting in front of a monitor and picking a fight. Silly, isn't it?

In one of my posts the other day, I said "as-s", which I had to change to "azz", so the word became "cat-azz-trophy", but I know the reason for the "bad word list".

So. Thanks for, as Morgan said, keeping an eye on the place. Let's leave the in-fighting for the "B" list sites--we here at the best site around don't need it.

Don't give us that trash. You weren't even able to walk or talk in 1971. Still in diapers, weren't you?

"scooter" has also been in my vocab as far back as I can recal , always meant a real bike . First time I saw an actual scooter was the late 70's when someone was using it on rural trails with bad results , those things simple werent common where/when I grew up ???

As far as actual language , if offensive four letter words make you squeamish , make it a point to avoid that BONZO guy , he cant make it more than 7 words without cussin , must be a Detroit thing ...

What are you saying to me, that my scooter isn't a real bike??? smile

The major difference is that scooters break down and heat seize when ever they fell like it....oh hang on....bikes do that as well...

Old scooters take 15 kicks to start it from cold....oh hang on....

It seems we are all in the same boat! laugh

I'm not so much offended by "cuss-word" bad language as I am appalled by the inability of some of us English-speakers to write, well, proper English. No offense, but it's tortuous to read and decipher some of the messages that appear on this forum. In fact, many of the messages from Scandinavia and other non-English language countries are more understandable than those from us taught in the Mother tongue. Perhaps we could treat our forum and our fellow readers more respectfully . . .

Totally concur Barb, the attraction of this forum is the people and the knowledge, in that order.

Any sane person avoids "bloodhouse pubs" and the same goes for cyberplaces which include even a few offensive individuals.

I work at a full on job that I like and the last thing I need when I sit with a beer is stuff that grates.

Just for information purposes( and to impress ca7a ) The Google tool bar comes with a spell check feature that will spell check whatever page your typing on. Including this one. And correct it for you. Also another feature allows you to hold the ALT key and click on any word on the screen in front of you and a dictionary definition will come up to enlighten you! Did you know that most type can be enlarged by holding the Ctrl key and using the scroll wheel? Great for email!

Beezerbill, Morgan had the Auto censor shut down to update the site. It is back on now. There are ways to get a point across ...such as usin these little critters available on your key board @#$%^&* works just as effective and does not really offend anyone..Just trying to keep the site what it is and is being used everyday for.. bigt Seeya
