Has anyone had good or bad experience with the AMAL carb barrel and slide restoration from Lund (http://www.amalsleeve.com/). I will be needing restoration or replacement of my two 389 monoblocs.

Thanks,

Lloyd

I just received my AMAL 389/689 set from them a week ago and I am very pleased. I have not installed them yet b/c my bike is still in pieces undergoing a major rebuild. The carbs look and slide great, but I cant comment yet on their performance.

My only complaint is that it took nearly 5 weeks from the date I sent them to when they came back. I dont know if that is typical or if they just have alot of carbs waiting in line. They also werent much on keeping me up to date on their completion date too. It was no big deal since I couldnt ride anyway, but I did think it was a bit of a long wait. Im happy thus far & would recommend them bigt .

I've had two concentrics and two 375 monoblocs done by them all with good results.

I had my 389's done by them and now have 500+ miles on them with no issues. They (internals)look like new & it idles like a champ. It's just one less thing you have to worry about when you're dialing it in. bigt

I'm sure they have many carbs to do and do their best to get them out with quality work in the shortest amount of time possible. They have been in business ...even with new ownership for quite a few years and are highly recommended. In the world of restorations, five weeks isn't bad. If you needed it within two weeks then that would be something to establish up front. This is for anybody else who may be hesitant due to the time factor. The thing to remember is that they take an AMAL carb that has seen better days and return it with the quality of a better than brand new AMAL!

I just got my pair of concentrics back for my 74 Commando from Lund. About 2 weeks turnaround time. Just installed the carbs today. I've just done an initial adjustment, but they are idling better than it ever did. Workmanship looked very good.
