I just acquired a 1970 T120R. Would someone advise what the green and read indicator lights are on the headlight. The green one stays on all the tine.
Thanks
John

It's advisable to check inside the headlamp shell what wires are attached to the two lamp holders - as standard either bulb/holder can be pushed into either lens; because of their different indications and functions, you don't want to get 'em wrong even if a d,p.o. did ...

. Red should be oil pressure warning. The bulb holder should have a White wire and either a White/Brown or Red/Green wire, the White/Brown or Red/Green wire should run to the pressure switch in the front edge of the timing cover. The lamp usually comes on when you first turn on the ignition switch and goes off after you've kicked the engine over a few times or after it's started. The switch turns off above about 7 psi, tickover oil pressure is about 20 psi and running pressure is 55-65 psi. So if the light comes on when the engine's running, it tends to be less of an 'oil pressure warning' light and more of an 'engine fcuked' light ... eek

. Green should be headlamp main/high beam warning. The bulb holder should have a Blue/White wire and a Red wire, the Blue/White should be connected to the other Blue/White wires between the handlebar dipswitch (high/low switch) and the headlamp bulb, the Red wire should be connected to other Red wires in the headlamp shell. If "The green one stays on all the tine", either the wires aren't connected correctly or headlamp main/high beam is on all the time.

Hth.

Regards,

Stuart
Thank you for the very clear advice. I have just finished restoring a 1970 T100S and now have started on the 1970 T120R. I have just started the easy part .... disassembly and am sure I will have many questions throughout the process. Would you mind if I contacted you directly? My email address is johnschaubhk@gmail.com

Regards
John

John- may be worth either now deleting your email or changing it so it makes sense when read but not to automated email catching bots.
