Happy National Cheeseburger Day to all. Hope you are able to celebrate in a greasy, gluttonous and gastronomically appropriate way!

The MDs here sells a #3, 1/4lbr,fries, and coke combo for $7.++. I guess I'm just living in the past, but geez that's high in my opinion. I wonder what the cost Vs. markup is on that? On the other hand, you can't find anything cheap for lunch any more. Gut bombs or not!
Good excuse to indulge today!!

Decided to participate and went to In-and-Out, had a CB. I told the counter Guy it was Nat'l CB Day,..... He didn't believe it. I said Google it! He did and I saw the crew all laughing! You'da thought they would know as it's their stock in trade, but then you know how young folks are not into tradition.
Come to think of it,....... Is it a tradition ??

When McDonalds was "new", in the early 1960s, the deal was Hamburger 15 cents, Fries 10 cents, Coke 5 cents.

Everything's gone up, but the funny thing is that the actual cost to McDonalds for the Coke is still not much more than 5 cents.

Regardless of what the restaurants (not just McDonalds) charge for a fountain-type drink, they're making most of their money for the meal off of that, whether it be a soda or iced tea. Direct costs (water, C02, syrup) is about 15 cents, overhead (server, electric, etc) about 20 cents, and profit is $1.50 .....

Beautiful North Carolina
Well, it wasn't because of the day but I had a toasted kaiser roll, six ounces of ground ribeye, cooked in the drippings from three slices of uncured bacon. Topped with blue cheese crumbles, jalapeno and sweet pickle slices, the bacon, and because I'm a heathen, a squirt of jalapeno ketchup. It was so good I may have to patent it!
Just to balance things out, I had a PBJ tonight.
