Well I got back from the Cape Cod trip and the R3 was leaking a lot of oil. A river was coming out the bottom of the LH front pushrod tube. I suppose I should just be used to this by now but I have two BSAs that don't leak much so...
Into the shop it went. Then came the news. Down on compression with a couple of loose valve guides. So I'm getting a bore job in addition to chasing some leaks. This came as a surprise as the bike runs like stink and starts easy.
The good thing is the bike should be even faster after the breakin.
Don't know if it will be ready for the one state but no worries - I can ride one of the Six Volt bikes to Pennsylvania!
