Unfortunately, not a yarn this time but a few images of some of the machinery at the BSA Owners' Club Open Day and Rally. I'll start with the tiddlers in this viewing:-

First up a BSA Bantam GPO Bike. The type that was often seen running around town delivering telegrams. This was before everybody had telephones.

Next a 125cc D1 Bantam. The GPO also used this model to deliver telegrams.

Another form of Bantam. One for the racetrack.

When did you see one of these? A BSA Beagle (Starlight in the USA) with sidecar.

And a few competition models to finish this section.

Some larger capacity machines later.

Beezageezauk.

I'd love to see that 75cc Beagle, which is only known to anyone because it could barely pull ITSELF along, trying to pull that sidecar too! What some people will do, eh?

Some interesting bikes there, and I'll bet there are a few that are fun to ride ....

Lannis

I stopped believing for a little while this morning. Journey is really going to be upset.

Alloy engined Matchless

A nicely turned out Velocette.

And a pair of outfits.

And finally.....well, you can tell me what this is.

because I wouldn't know how to begin describing it.

Well Ray, here it is in it's original form about 7 or 8 years ago

The builder and then owner lived in the Loughborough area. He told me he'd built it from other peoples discarded bits, starting with an M20 crank.

Ray.
Thanks for the excellent photo's mate and thanks to all who attended the open day rally it was a great weekend and as this was my last one, beerchug clap organising that is, its good to go out on a high, I think this must be the best venue out, with the real ales and good food, fantastic facilities, what more can you ask for? I hope you all enjoyed the ride out to Melton Mobray, with the pork pie and Stilton cheese sampled. I have pre-booked the same venue for next year and for the same bank holiday weekend, so you can all put it in your diary. beerchug

Ray, thanks for posting!
Some really beautiful bikes there.

About the Rocket Three.... Were BSA Rocket Threes built on the Seely frames strictly custom, or from the factory? Was going back thru some pix a couple days ago and came across a pic or two of the Seely framed Rocket Three that a Norwegian club member had at the Rally in Valldal. I any case, that one you pictured is a darn nice bike.

Looks like a great weekend!

Hmmmm! That twin carb A10 is a scorcher. That Vtwin conversion is not a bad looker either. Wonder how it goes?
We have some folks in our vintage group who go both ways. .!!!? Ahh ... That is ... One chap re-engined a norton with an xs650 motor and another put an A65 motor in a Suzuki 500. Oddly enough both are pretty good lookin'. ... The bikes not the guys!
Thanks for posting the walk-about.
