a guy told me he has a set of Carillo rods for A10 motor . He measured the big end of the rod at 41.75 which is about 0.75mm different to what I measured std rod eye at ........ so he is either a bad measurer or they take a slightly different shell?

your thoughts

Thanks Guys

There are small journal and big journal cranks which would explain the difference?

Nope that's not it . The big journal cranks are way bigger on the big end like around .2" not just .75mm .

if you have a worn bsa crank then using 650 triumph shells gives you a new lease of life, std triumph are about -040 bsa but the outer of the shell is a bit larger, maybe this is what he as done ?

Hang on im a bit confused, you say 41.75? isnt the std bsa journal 42.8 ?so the outer is smaller that the inner ?iv just measured one at 46.85 so maybe it is small journal?

yes small journal crank .... should have said ... anyhow the question remains ... he says 41.7 rod eye diameter ... I measured 41 on std conrod , so do the Carrillo rods take a non standard shell?

In general, the answer is no. They may have been resized either for a different crank or different shells but usually carrillos drop right in.

thanks Alex .... will ask the dude to remeasure the eye ... trying to get shells for resized rods would be a mission if not impossible

so just to make sure I have have it right

a standard Corillo rod WILL take std shells , vanderville ect ?

WAK perhaps they are triumph I wonder what the eye size is on std triumph rods ... that could well explain it

When I order Carillo rods the request a sample, so if in stock, they will match that sample that was sent. The way to be sure is to send a sample or find out which one they worked from. Cheers, Don.

The connecting rod dimension for A10/A65 is 1.844" or 46.8376mm if measuring the rod big end
