Ever since I rebuilt my '68 A65 Lightning I have had oil weeping out of the bottom right timing cover bolt. I finally decided to take the inner timing cover off to see if there was something I had overlooked. Well I did that and looked all over, but couldn't see where any oil could be possibly be infiltrating into that attachment hole (it is right under the front of the oil pump). I put the inner cover back on and went out later in the day to see if any oil was in the hole and sure enough there was oil weeping out. Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance,
Steve in Ohio

If I'm not mistaken, that hole goes straight through to the crankcase. It's been a while, but I seem to remember leaving that bolt out once and starting up the bike, and oil SPURTED out that hole. You could check this out with a probe to see if I'm right. If I am right, then I would say clean up the hole with alcohol or acetone, and smear some non-hardening goop on the screw, maybe pipe dope or silicone.
