help to identify bsa qd hub - 09/04/18 5:42 pm

can someone please to identify this hub i have a pre 54 plunger frame A7/A10 need to know if fit because i need to buy all the parts to complete the rear wheel

That is a "QD" "Crinkle" hub..



Look in a 1950-1953 parts book (plunger) and look in a 1954 (swing arm) book and compare part numbers... If same then find the parts, if not, fin another hub.


Try Mikes Classic Parts, he has a lot of BSA A7 / A10 parts. I'm sure he can help you out

i tried different part book but no luck it's a mess to put it together in that way

The hub looks like a pre '55 A/B series and gold star up to '62
The part no should be 67-6136, the part no on the hub does not look like a BSA number. The A50/65 B44 type 68-6114 is identical apart for a thread to screw on the speedo drive dog

The later hubs 68-6114 do not have the grease nipple - the hub above is one of the earlier types of which I think there is a difference between Plunger and S/A types. See:-

The number stamped on the hub (0570250) is a patent nr, not a part number so that will not get you any further.
The plunger frame type hub can be identified by looking at the bearing mounting, (your second picture). The bearing mount should stick out of the crincled section for the plunger type frames.
Wnen the bearing mounting tube is lower than the crincled section, you are dealing with the later type of hub. (swing arm frame)

That is not a plunger hub, the plunger hub has an internal thread on the non splined side and projects further,

As Vic says, the A65 series hubs also have raised rivets, as the earlier ones are countersunk into the hub, they were known for pulling/working loose.
