I have a nice looking 67 1126 alloy head for the A10 bike project..But, the valve seats are recessed from from over ambitious valve grinding. Way oversize 1.530 intakes valves were fitted mostly likely to get the valve in a better position.
Who has replaced seats in an A10 head? Is it a job requiring machining out the old seats and pressing in new ones? Or does in turn into a major ordeal requiring welding ?
There is a local machine shop more than capable of doing the job but he is not a BSA expert so I need a few facts to tell him...I have no interest in sending the head to temperamental specialists....

triumphs have those trapezoildal cast in things. i have a head with pretty deep grinding, and my machinist was quite willing to try leaving them in and machine them for inserts, head seat and all.

havent moved to that project so i haveno idea whether it would work well. im sure someonw here would be able to answer that question as well

Thanks, I have no idea if A10 inserts are like Triumph...
