The rear pivot of SLS brakes requires some work if the drums have been skimmed a few times.
The rear of the shoe should be very close to the drum so when the brake is applied the front edge hits the drum first so uses the rotational force of the drum to push the shoe harder into the drum.
If the leading edge does not strike first you may as well open your fly and urinate in front, hoping the equal & opposit force will slow you down.
Some pivots are adjustable radially.
Some are oval so they can be rotated to shift the shoe out
Some shoes have a cap that can be removed & packing pieces placed under it
And of course some just have to be replaced by a new bespoke pivot.

What BSA used each & every year for each & every modle is well beyond my knowledge but making brakes actually work is.

Fully floating front shoes did not come in on BSA's until the TLS which was a Triumph designed brake. The rear QD did get floating shoes at some point, they are on my 69 Victor but for some reason current suppliers have reverted to fixed pivot. For the single sided 8" shoes I mill them with a end mill the same diameter as the pivot and make a 1/4" flat on the shoe to make them fully float. That plus a proper lining sized to the drum equals the 7" TLS on my 1968 B44 Shooting Star. This dark grey lining is useless, seems to come from Ferodo and even with arcing and making the shoes fully floating I could not get it to work so consigned to the bin.
