My dad has a triumph 3ta and has been after an ammeter for ages. It's a 6v 8 amp 2" round ammeter and the one he had fitted I belive was the wrong amps but had a bulb fitment on the bottom for illumination. All the replacement ones with the correct amps are sealed units no hole for a bulb to go in.

Question is. Does an original 3ta ammeter have a bulb holder or is the bulb and after market thing that a previous owner may have done?

It is and was common for the body of the ammeter to be translucent, so it is illuminated by stray light from the headlight.

I have never seen a Triumph ammeter with a bulb fitted.
