Just wondering if anyone has changed their alternator from the very early 1953 model 465674 to something more available.
I'm putting my 1953 Speedtwin 5T back together, one of the first bikes to sport alternators.
The oem is starting to break up, and I'm struggling to find a replacement for it, plus the fact that a 70 year old magnet is probably getting a bit on the weak side. The RM20 is a similar size, but smaller on the od, and magnetic fields fall away exponentially so would need a corresponding stator in order to keep the spacing correct.
With a bit of luck I'm sure there's a later model that will fit without major modifications all over! 6 or 12v, I don't think it matters :-)
BTW whats the trick in getting images to show?? (set to 750width with .JPG ?)
