I have a 68 t120 with a 3 wire alterator. Can I safely hook it into a Podtronics unit? I will be running a joe hunt mag for ignition.

Probably but
it depends , you need to do somemore homework
. ... which Podtronics ? they make both a single phase and 3-phase
then
there are 2 types of three wire stators .
one type... has 3 wires and is single phase ... it has 6 poles showing on the inside of the encapsulation .
this type of stator is a holdover form the 6volt days but was used quite a bit in 12 volt wiring configuration
during the transition of different models to 12 volts during , roughly 1967~68

the second type has 3 wires and is 3 phase ... it has 9 poles showing on the inside of the encapsulation .
this type of stator wasn't introduced tell about 1970 ?

chances are , you have a single phase stator ... but you need to count the poles ,
or verify the model by a stamped imprint , some times found on the edge of the laminations .

A single phase stator can use a single phase or 3 phase regulator .

A 3-phase stator ... needs a 3-phase regulator .

ok, I went back and checked my purchase. it says
hook black/green and black yellow together, hook to yellow on regulator.
green/white hooks to other yellow.

thanks for your response. I sometimes buy before research

Yes, that's correct for the early single phase.
