I bought a new front brake cable. It came with a clevis mount for the lever on the wheel. But I'm missing the 'barrel' that fits in the handlebar lever. Anyone know where I can find one of these?

Chip: the end in the photo you posted goes at the wheel end, the threaded bit shown goes into the fitting on the brake plate. So which end is missing? What is on the other end of the cable?

Is this what you are after, you get these with the handlebar levers but they can be bought separately.

The last cable I bought in U.K. a few years ago had a barrel that fits into the handlebar lever and is slotted and counter drilled to accept the pear nipple you showed on your cable.

I’ve just checked in my old red parts book, number 00-5076, DBD34 from engine number 3001, and it’s shown in there. Plate number 14, item #18, part number 42-8678, described as front brake and clutch cable nipple adaptor.

I could probably get them in U.K. at Stafford in April when I am going or perhaps if you want, try and get a photo posted of one and dimensions and you can just turn one up from a piece of brass

Gordo -- both ends of the cable are the same.

Maybe the barrel just got lost. In the past (many years ago) cables like that came with a loose barrel in the box.

I did order the part. As to it getting lost, there has been a universal cable on it for 30 years or so. I just want it to look right.
