BigTwin, Harley Davidson used to sell an aftermarket product that was for this very thing. It was a off white color liquid that had some sort of abrasive sand mixed with it. I coated my pipes then put them in the oven at about 200 degrees, then coated them again. Pipes are still shiny chrome after thousands of miles. About two years ago, I was into another restoration, but couldn't find the Harley stuff. Someone told me that the Kreem company made something similar. Sure enough, I found it. It is just like the Harley stuff, except its blue. Same consistency, same abrasive sand like feel. I did the same routine, coat the pipes, then in the oven, and coat again. This bike has hundreds of miles, pipes still look new.
I recommend it.
