I saw this video where he said he removed an a65 con rod via the sump opening... this is possible?? I want have new small end bushings installed but don’t want to tear down the case. Thus would be great!

It's an interesting question. Randy seems pretty confident that he did it, but he must have used open ended spanners to get on the big end nuts with the very tight access.
It would be a bit easier with the very late A65 flywheels that are scalloped around the big ends rather than the full width ones, and easier still if BSA had the foresight to have used a wider sump plate.
Let use know how you get on.

You had the pin bushing turn you have a bigger issue than renewing the bushings

A rod cap would be one thing but to get that rod and piston out to remove the small end one would need to be Houdini.

You cannot do it. I believe you can remove the centre rod on a Rocket three.

Yeah, some people actually use this method when installing cylinders on triples.

He either had a bloody great hole knocked in the case by the rod snapping OR
a special cut away flywheel and custom sump plate.
Anyway to get the rod and piston out means all the top end off. That's the only way
to do a small end bush.
Some aftermarket rods have the nuts at the top of the big end so you could get the rod out that way.
