Well I for one am pleased. Yahoo apparently has decided to leave us in the lurch, and close down Dai's 'email group'.
It was at best hardly usable, and at worst... well I'm too polite to say!
HoweverI do want to thank Dai for setting it up and running it, but that was then... this is now!

I find it very sad to think that our very special marque can be without a standalone Web Forum.
There are (were) people on the Yahoo 'list' who don't know the difference between that and a fully fledged Forum, and there are those who don't get it re: farcebuck, thinking that they won't get scammed on it.

Once you've logged in to schmacebuck, your computer is registered on their database. That's all they need to manipulate your privacy!
The people who use it are either naive, or just don't CARE about their privacy.

When I use my 'proper' Forums, (About 6 each morning) here's what I do:
Open the bookmarked link - 1 click (I'm 'logged in' automatically)
show all posts since my last visit - 1 click
read any one of them - 1 click
And I can see all images immediately, - that's 3 THREE clicks so far.
- I can have a virtual conversation on any topic whilst seeing the images.
I can, within a couple of clicks, be reading posts on any subject, seeing all the pictures as I go.
And I can do all of this using attractive graphics and very functional navigation. Plus excellent security.

Instead, (at least with the Yahoo or similar email groups) I get reams of repeated email messages, along with pages and pages of garbage characters - probably html formatting crap or something.
On the yahoo site itself, it's a complete mess, needing way way too much work to get to what you're interested in. Ridiculous!
A complete farce compared with a 'proper' forum.

We Velomen are pissweak if we can't get it together to create a proper Velocette forum! (Excuse the language, I don't want to offend, but I am AMAZED at the negative response on this subject on the Yahoo thing).

To me, it's like pushing a Yahoo barrow with stuffed wheelbearings up a steep hill in 1903, compared with riding a quick Clubman in 2019.

I've offered donation of my design input... anyone else?
The Velo club(s)? what about it... surely this can't be beyond us! U.S, U.K, Australia... these clubs are all pretty damn strong aren't they?

Jools, I have been a "subscriber" to the Yahoo Velocette group for years. Am I sorry to see it go? Not really. It being an email based forum made it especially hard to use. I am constantly deleting useless emails with content that I have no interest. I entertained the idea of removing myself from the group many, many times, but could never figure out how to do it. I also remember getting myself signed up to the group was an overly complicated process that took several attempts before it was done successfully. I am not a computer dork. I use them only to get what I need, and sadly the Yahoo Velocette group rarely gave me anything I needed.
I find this forum to be much better, and easier to use, even if posting photos is an exercise in futility. This forum, when it comes to Velocette, lacks the enthusiasm and numbers of the BSA-Triumph followers, but its format and structuring are far superior to any other forums I have experienced. Many kudos to Morgan and the other moderators that oversee each marquee's space. This forum is truly special.

Agree Fullminator. If we could get more lads active on this Forum it would be good, but I get the feeling only a handful of us use it. We can go for weeks between posts on here so I end up not checking it every day as I do on other more active Forums. (Must look into the posting photos problem you're having, I've had no probs with that).
Unfortunately the Yahoo thing isn't taking any more messages, if it were we could have directed people over here. Missed by 'that' much.

Jools, you couldn't have chosen a better picture to test with. That is quite a nice project you have going there!
Yes, if you have the time and patience, I would like a run through of the process to insert photos just as you have done here.
Thanks.

Agreed on yahoo groups and FB groups, terrible platforms and a security nightmare. There is now a dedicated forum though, I'm very glad to say! Why the VOC has never sorted this is beyond me!

Thats strange, some Yahoo groups I'm on are still going strong
Its just that Yahoo is no longer storing the emails or photos,
but the sending out of emails is going on into the (forseeable) future.

Horses for courses, but it is/was a good way of getting a quick answer on many a topic.
Attached pics weren't its strong point, but that seems to vary on the moderators whim (and capablity).

Rohan, the Yahoo group has now been migrated to another mailing list.
But IMHO why bother?

Because now there is a far superior functioning Web Forum, take a look:
