My 71 Thunderbolt is all back together. Have just a
few things left to do. I plugged up the rear chain oiler
from the Primary. Do I need a vented primary chain
inspection plug to provide venting the primary now?

The "vent" is just a tiny hole drilled through the inspection plug.

I guess it doesn't take much of a hole to do the job.

The vented inspection plugs have a baffle plate on the inside, like the two in the top row of this pic. Use when "close enough" isn't good enough.

My 68 has one vented cap without the baffling behind it. Just a small hole in the slot.

Most of mine do. Must be what the stores had in so the just added a small hole to let it breath.
