Manx. Nice work but in the new vid you appear to have an A10 inner chaincase cover and not the single version with the smaller opening (on left in photo).

Well spotted!
I have made a spacer plate for it.
I'll be running a dry clutch, so not a biggie.

This bike had been previously built with whatever was on hand and most of the stuff has been swapped out by the correct Item.

I am much relieved but I did figure that you would have had a plan. I must admit that twenty plus years ago when I traded away a complete B40 for a box of rough Gold Star engine parts I did not know that the inner cases were not all the same and bought a couple of A10 type inners from local collectors. Around here the single inners are harder to find and I was planning to have a center welded in to make them work. Eventually I tracked down the proper inners.

I look forward to you next video.

Gordo

I'm on my phone, so couldn't put ut a propper link but if you follow the text above you will see the race that happens a couple of times a year and that is where I plan to race her.

As you can see, there are a lot of powerful bikes in the pre 60's class, so I hope the Goldie cams and less weight approach will help me out!

I want to block my crankcase breather (engine block is from 1947) and I have a timing chest breather..

Does someone happen to know what size threads the breathers have? I have a bsp plug 0.650 (whatever that is in old money) And the breather plug measures 0.620 so my plug is a tad too big.

Thread pitch looks the same

Found an image of how she looked when I got her. 50 shades of red, could start but ran grumpy plus loads of home made parts like dodgy footrests etc.

I`m doing the wiring at the moment and hiding the coil, battery and regulator/rectifier.

I`m just missing a few easy to find parts like gear change, kickstart and cables. I`m still not 100% sure if I am going to buy coverd coil shocks or open spring. I change my mind 3-4 times a day.
Oh, need a carb too, proberbly be buying a AMAL Premier as Ive had good luck with those on other bikes ive owned and built.

Im not sure what to do with the exhaust. I`m either going to buy a new scrambles type with the kick up and no silencer, or keep this pipe and add a mini goldstar silencer.

Should be done before christmas.

Wages are comming soon, I am realy not sure weather to go for open spring shocks or the hidden.

The shrouded shocks look more classic but open spring look a little more "sporty" ...

What do you think?

I think your project is just great! As for shocks I would go with exposed springs for the sporty look.

Thank you.

Here is part 3 of the rebuild in glorious technicolour.

I have already orderd most of the parts I need bar the rear shox, carb and new sidestand (the one I have is like a banana)

I am leaning torwards coverd spring shocks, I agree that freeing those springs make them look a little more sporty, but I also like the older look. haha, I`ll order those dead last.

Not sure which carb either, I have had good experience with the AMAL premiers, but Monobloc would look best....

Frank. As an almost 50 year old mountainbiker I am overwhelmed to find you here and commenting on my thread.

Kudos to you sir, such a legend.
