how do I stop the primary oil from being thrown out the ent hole at the rear of the inner primary case? how necessary is this breather?

Same breather as the A65 and not partiually required as long as a blanking bolt is fitted.

Other thing is do the breather inspection caps have holes in?

If this is what I think it is, its not a breather, its a rear chain oiling device, most folk blank this off with a bolt, some silicone or other method.

The B44 has no other breathers and I think Alan means the tappet inspection covers which people sometimes fit with breather tubes.

That hole at the back does provide venting ...but it supposed to leak
Because it's a poorly designed automatic chain oiler .
An engineering idea who time has passed ... block it off .

The primary needs a small amount of venting
So
Blocking it off may just move the leak to the next weakest spot

Depending on the year ...
The primary side cover
may already have these .. on the side
