... for Mr. Mike and Leila down in Cape Carteret, NC.

They live right on an ocean inlet - winds will be howling all night at hurricane strength starting around midnight, the power and phones will be out, the water piling up in the inlet in a big storm surge, trees coming down, tornado warnings on top of that.

The Carolina coast is a lovely place to live but there's a Mother Nature tax on the good times and mild winters. Mike's hoping that the new A/C system that he put in after the last storm won't get drowned.

The shop is fairly high above water so the BSAs will be OK, so there's that!

We'll check back tomorrow night. This ain't their first rodeo.

Hope the people there make it the best as possible; here we are not prepared for an Hurricane devastation.
Barely we can manage an intense rain; ALL due to the BAD, very bad public works; all done by retarded

When it comes to coastal hurricanes, the storm can ALWAYS beat any preparations or public works solutions ... you just have to hunker down and take it.

It's why no one lived there for so long!

It WAS a long night but they got past it with no damage, so all's well there. The Bahamas are sure a mess; a suggestion was made that maybe a couple cruise ships could pull up and dock and provide a place for a few thousand of the newly-homeless there to shelter and eat while they're trying to rebuild, I hope someone takes them up on it ....

Well, the initial NOAA prediction cone showed Florida and Alabama in the potential track of the hurricane. Even the best we've got can't predict a hurricane's path 5 days in advance, but they think they can predict the entire climate of the planet for years in advance?

Remember, as a wise man once said, "stepping on others doesn't make you stand tall" ....
