So the robbing barstewards who sell us our telephone land line service finally got on my last nerve, $60 a month and no long distance with that, so I put up an antenna to find our pathetic cell signal, hooked it up to a cell phone, Bluetoothed that over to our house phone, changed my land line number over to the cell, and we have house phones now without being raped for the privilege.

So I said to meself "I know what, I'll take that to the International and stay in touch", so here I am, happy as Larry, posting to the list, sharing pictures with those not fortunate enough to be here....trying to be a supportive dude for the hobby....

And what do I get from this sorry lot here with me? "Nyah Nyah na na na, Lannis has a crab peeler, I'm gonna tell daddy, nyah nyah, he's in trouble now". And they're asking ME how to post pictures from a crab peeler to the BritBike site, blimey, l've had this thing a week and I'm already the expert.

They're conspiring to "out" me but it's too late, if anyone is going to dime me out, it's going to be yours truly, I was born on a Thursday but it wasn't last Thursday...

Look, a selfie! Now what they gonna do?

well welcome to the new century. cell phones have been replacing land lines for quit a while for just the reason you finally moved to a modern crab peeler.now you will have let me know what number you are using.

( I put up an antenna to find our pathetic cell signal, hooked it up to a cell phone, Bluetoothed that over to our house phone, changed my land line number over to the cell, and we have house phones now without being raped for the privilege.}

and just look at how tech savey you are. no wonder they are asking you to teach them all about this new fangled stuff

I had to come up with that myself, the spotty little oiks in the phone stores had no idea what to do, all they know is how sell the latest and greatest phones to other oiks.

Nobody does this for a living, no one acts as a 'Home Communication Integrator". I'd pay real money to someone who would say "If you have even a faint signal on your roof, I'll set you up with home phones, mobile phones, and broadband Internet for half of what you're paying for landline and satellite". But no, all they can do is try to sell you a Samsung Firebolt IV with a pink metal flake case.

So I've got the phone part. Next is home WiFi to replace the satellite. Since Verizon has no LTE 4G modem any more, I'm going to try using an older phone someone gave me as a hot spot (placing it next to the antenna), feed the phone output to a Windows laptop, create a 'network bridge' in the laptop, and feed the now-Ethernet signal to my existing Netgear router to send around the house.

Again, although this seems to be a common problem, NO ONE will do this shyte for money, so here's me all involved in it....

Next thing you know you'll be on Facebook, swigging Lattes and PBR, wearing flannel shirts (he already has a beard) and driving a Prius. It's all downhill from here, Lannis!

i first got internet in my warehouse by taking an old wilson cell phone car signal amplifier and sticking the antenna on the roof, then hooking up the wilson to a cigarette lighter outlet clipped to a dead car battery with a 12 volt charger on it full time. then i hung the wilson transmitter in the middle of the room and used my cell phone as a hot spot for the laptop on my desk.

worked barely okay so long as i stayed within a truck cab's length from the transmitter.

I hope you have an unlimited data plan on your phone. Streaming a hockey game can get expensive when using your celI signal.
I feel your pain, we used to build our own satellite dishes until the content providers figured out scrambling the signal.
I think most of the folks who are capable of doing what you are attempting probably have good jobs with the companies which would rather you didn't do what you are attempting, and will do everything in their power to prevent it.
Wish I'd have seen the future. When I was in tech school the only people with mobile phones were doctors, lawyers, and bankers, oh my.

"Streaming a hockey game?"

THE most unlikely contingency of all that have been mentioned!

I think if I could do that I'd have a new career path. I can set up an antenna and get over the air TV for free, but I don't think I could make money doing that.

Yes, streaming a hockey game. Fox has the exclusive broadcast rights to Predators home games and only broadcasts them on a channel which is part of an extra sports package. However, they do offer a phone app which allows one to stream the broadcast. It's the same situation with Atlanta Braves broadcasts.
My satellite receiver is WIFI capable. I spoke with tech support about using that to get the phone broadcast to show up on the TV. That requires a Sling adapter, $50. Gotta love new technology, they got you coming and going.
The classic market creates competition, the modern market abhors it.

Bryan lad, that's Lannis showing me how to post photos on Britbike from the Crab Peeler, a thing I've NEVER been able to do, still can't in fact.. shocked

He's an ex-spurt on it, even found the local Mc Donalds which was buried in the depths of the Cotswolds, and at one stage he was looking for a place that did Chicken Fried Steak... ohno
