I made a serious mistake in removing the camshaft pinion of my A65.Tighter than a ducks whatsit. Question is, how do I get it back on. Presume heat is the only answer but any suggestions welcome. A smack with a lump hammer seems to be a no no.

I know what you mean, some are really tight. I just use some emery on a spindle
and ease the pinion centre out a bit, they need to be tight but not that tight.
If you whack 'em wiv a 'ammer you'll push the key into the bush.

Success. Five minutes with a butane propane gas torch and it dropped on good as gold.
