Are Lucas 12v coils ok to use with a Tri-spark?

Yep, although trispark say that their coils have a better performance/bigger spark. But any 12 volt coil will work ...well those that work on our bikes that is.

I'm using what I assume are the original coils on my T150V with a Trispark, they work fine

When given the choice between two evils I picked the one I haven't tried before

A few weeks ago I converted a T160 from Boyer to Trispark.
Used Emgo 12 volt coils.
Works very very well.

I just read an old post that Lucas coils are made by wassel. I have already ordered wassel but I haven't received or opened them yet. I knew that the Lucas coils were made by somebody else but did not realize it was wassel, Has anyone reading this used wassel coils? If so, what was the outcome? I'd appreciate some opinions on wassel vs emgo coils. Reminder, this is for a T160 with a tri-spark being installed.

As I understand it Wassell have the license to use the Lucas name on motorcycle electrical equipment.
I am pretty certain that they do not manufacture coils themselves but sub contract the manufacture.
The sub contractor could very possibly be Emgo----- I know Emgo make coils for other suppliers and brand them in the other suppliers names.

And like all contract batch jobs it would depend on the unit contract price and profit margins as to how good they are. All coils are in essence the same, but the contract price determines what can be done and the materials used in the end product.

I hear what you are saying. I'm sure it's the same for all kinds of products, from food to appliances to whatever, a few manufactures/producers providing similar products sold under different names at different price points.

The coils that I received and are going to install are "Sparx".
