I've loved this song since I can remember. Seeing them do it live at the most notable music fest in history would have been epic !

I saw them [Canned Heat] in the early '80's a couple of times at Broadford.....a 3 day concert out of Melbourne run by the HA. They played from around 12 midnight till almost sunup. They had guys from aussie bands join them on stage and do cameo's. Epic stuff.

I realise that not all original members were there, but it was still a great line up and terrific show. They even ended up putting out a CD of the concert, which I have.

Canned Heat was one of my favorite bans as a kid- as soon as I heard them on the Woodstock record, I was locked. They did quite a bot of work with John Lee Hooker, all of which is great.

I have darn near every record that canned heat made - absolutely one of my favorite bands.

Tonight, in about two hours (7PM Eastern) I'll be listening to "The Wax Museum" with Ronnie Dark. Ronnie also plays in sevral local bands and he's quite a talented musician.
"Swirling cosmic & unusual sounds for your ears & minds: Bringing you the spirit of 60s & 70s free-form radio! The program's focus is mostly centered on the Garage Band Era and British Invasion music, but THE WAX MUSEUM caters to all types and forms of rock and roll and it's offshoots (including Surf/Hot Rod, obscure Progressive Rock, AOR (album oriented radio), Soul/R&B and Fusion music)."

I noticed someone was watching Porcupine Tree a few posts ago, which I find pleasantly surprising, because of their obscurity. Here's another:

Pretty much any thing involving Steven Wilson is guaranteed quality.

There is much good stuff from earlier days too, this was the 1st I heard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XffpnIDzRAo

still freaks me every time.

Perhaps, jokingly, old farts like me worry that the world is so digitally passing me by, which it is of course, but half the kids are lost too.
That's what this is about.

yeah Koan I like Prog Rock - not so trendy these days I know, but there are still great bands out there bucking the trend like Porcupine Tree, Crippled Black Phoenix, Still Corners, Black Mountain etc plus we have some great older bands like Yes, King Crimson, Hawkwind and Pink Floyd to name a few.

Nice one t150. We actually had Hawkwind Hosting (2010) the first festival on the 1970 site since that original. As a Hawkfest, it was a 700 peeps psychedelic dream. The only festival held on the same land. Twas almost religious, if it weren't for the drink and drugs.

When I read what I wrote, it seemed confusing, so what was intended is that was a Hawkwind gathering on the original festival (1970) site at Afton, the one and only time it has been used since, just happened to be Hawkwind's 40th anniversary as well.
The irony was that Hawkwind weren't invited to play at the festival, instead they played for free just outside the gate, as their protest against profiteering in music.
So it was lovely that 40 years later they took it as their own. Fortunately, only Hawkfreaks and locals knew about it, so it was a beautiful and peaceful gathering, no commerce or [***].
It wasn't a festival, just the nicest easy group of chilled ones. Even Lemmy made a guest appearance because of the occasion, guess what he sang with them.

I've been reliving a misspent youth and listening to a bit of Rodriguez.

Wishbone Ash, they're still with us?! In for the long haul, I'd say.

Saw them about '70/71, dueling (dualing) lead guitars, and strong electric fiddle. Opening band for... can't recall... wazzat say? Remember the opener and not the featured act.

I was living in Colorado Springs at that time Jon, but I think the concert was probably Denver... Springs didn't support that level stuff at the time. Bud, we're talking truly fuzzy times... for them to have left an impression is really quite a testament.
