Have been doing a bit of the family history thing lately and was wanting to tidy up some loose ends on my late fathers motorcycle exploits.
During the 60's he got around on a Gold Flash which he informed me was an ex QLD police bike? it had the big perspex screen and panniers.
Would anyone no what year model of Gold Flash QLD police may have used? and as a long shot did anyone on this site purchase a Gold Flash ex police with bent forks and other minor damage in the late 60's from Holland Park Brisbane.

Cheers,
Mick

Afaik Qld Police were Triumph customers, certainly in the late 60s as they had the TR6P Saint.

2nd picture down sure looks like a load of BSA Gold Flashes kitted out with Perspex screens to me.

The plywood motorcycle cop reminds me of how a friend once slowed down speeders on the road in front of his house.
He parked his bike in his driveway, stood next to it wearing all black clothes and a white helmet, with an old hand-held hair dryer with it's electric cord tucked under the seat.
When a speeder came along, he aimed the hair dryer their way, like a radar gun.
The next thing heard was the screech of tires from brakes being applied HARD.

(The trick worked for a day or two.)

Looks like the lineup and radio shot were taken at the old Army Barracks on Petrie Terrace. Maybe they were based there. A quick web search says the Police had a depot there.

Google street view today of the pub in the background.

Cheers
Ray
