The amount of stuff that came with this bike is great but the stuff that's missing is WEIRD. Anybody know a source (other than eBay) to pick up a head steady mount?

I'm about to spend $9 on a tiny little front brake through-bush because the guy couldn't be bothered to throw that in a bag or something and the head steady is gone?
It's not the bike that was expensive, it's all these little teeny-tiny parts that add up $10, $20, $40 at a time!

I know, preaching to the choir...

... any help appreciated

You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man.
I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

Try AJ Cycle in Gill MA 413-863-9543

Putting my Bitsa together, I bought many of these "$100 handfuls" -- at 2009 prices laugh

Allan will most likely answer the phone at AJ's. Check their hours. Might be worth a visit if they let you rummage. (BTW - His used bike listing still shows a Gold Star.)

Then visit Nova Motorcycles in Turners Falls. (celtrock: now that I think of it, Sayre is building a '71 A65 for racing, he might have street parts available, no harm in asking.)

Used to have a meet ... hmmm ... when?

Shelburne Falls is farther west and home of the Bridge of Flowers, and a good place to stop for food and coffee when out riding in Western MA.
https://www.shelburnefalls.com/

Turners Falls is a different falls.

Yankee Beemers usually have their meet out thataway, Moto Guzzis allowed, well, everyone invited.

Quabog Riders that I know of run the hillclimb, I think in Monson MA, south-central MA

Does that help? grin

hack, there's something new a-foot in Turners Falls -- Nova MC whom I mentioned organize some moto events currently, for example, their Unsprung Moto Road Rally with a vintage focus --
http://unsprungmoto.com/

And "Quabog" is a common name in Central MA, for example Quabog Pond and lots of other named sites and activities.

Quabog Riders in 1948 -- third from left is my late father-in-law, Stan:

83-2844

BRACKET, ENG.MT, TOP, A65, OIF

BCS shows it at $37.44 with ZERO inventory.

BritishOnly e-store (not their eBay store) lists the part at various prices
Suggested price $76.90
Web price $57.68
Used $46.14

... plus shipping of course ... but hard to tell if they actually have it in stock. Call, or put it in the cart and see what happens? (I ordered a TR5T part last year only to get a reply that it was out of stock.)

Guess you could start phoning around if my first two suggestions of March 11 didn't pan out.

Aron,

I don't know why you would want to bypass eBay but if it wasn't for that site we wouldn't have the movement of these old classic bikes and parts on the scale as we now know it. It is a constant parts source and one that has enabled me to build my small empire of bikes and parts along with private party - and face to face transactions. I like individual sales and swap meet pickups but when I need a part I use all of the available resources. Anyway, here is a head steady I found on my first search for said part and of course, there may be more to find using different search terms.

Buy it Now or make him an offer. I have conversed with this seller recently and he is a nice guy, so can't hurt to offer. BTW, I have had a very high success rate lately with my offers. Good luck.

It's not that I want to bypass the site. I found nothing there. Though in the last couple of days of keeping a saved search on there I have come up with a couple. Just didn't know if there was someone out there making them and sourcing them more reliably that I could just click on to buy. The ones that (rarely) come up on eBay are all over the place as far as price, location and even condition. I'll check that link, maybe it's one I've come across. Thanks!

BSA OIF Head Steady

That IS one that I saw... Actually THE one that I saw. I was going to let it sit a little while longer before making an offer. Folks seem more keen on offers if it's been up longer than 2 or 3 weeks and since I'm not yet really near the point where I need the head steady I guess I can wait it out a little! Thanks!

I hear what you are saying about waiting them out. I have certainly practiced that strategy when a part has been listed in my watch list for quite a while without that option and sometimes I get a buyer who go for my offer but if they have an option to make an offer, I always take that as they are ready to deal now !

The waiting game may not work out so great with what appears to be a scarce if not rare part. If it wuz me, I'd make an offer asap if I wanted this part.
