The page boxes have changed shape .

Some time yesterday... i think
They no longer auto size to my 10" Samsung tablet

The dialog box is now a wide rectangle that runs off the side of the page .
And The default font has also become smaller .

So i must zoom to read and this make the box even more horizontal... so i must thumb the page right to left to read ...
( I know this is a bit of a first world problem , but i thought it worth bringing to someone's attention ... in case anyone else is having this problem )

This is the only site displaying this way , so I don't think it's on my end ,
But
Is there a way I can format the pages on my end .... or

Thanks morgan

Quinten,

BritBike forum has always been about desktop layout.
Recently versions has become more and more tablet and phone friendly.
The general forum software is now more user friendly than the settings I have set up.
At this moment I'm awaiting a new software update and when that is done I'll be working on making
it more user friendly for phones and tablets.
Well I have been testing a bit already so your input is valued by me. I was testing to see how I can make it
as friendly I could to iPhone 5 which has a small screen. This somehow affected your tablet in a negative way.

We are in the process to change our advertisers banners, the large leaderboard size does not work with tablets/phones so it will be resized.
Another thing is how photos and images are presented in the posts.

This is a good topic to address Page auto sizing problems so lets keep it active.

Im happy to help .
I default my tablet to desktop versions as much as possible ... as that seems to be a richer content experience .

My tablet is not a phone ... has no Broadband capability ... and connects exclusively over Wi-Fi
If I add a critique
Please bear with my semi-literate reples .
I dont speak proper -page design language ..

Is it a Nexus 10 you have Quinten ?

Made by Samsung but marketed by Google.

I'm also having the same issue on my iPad (smaller type and having to swipe sideways. But it now fits my iPhone screen perfectly.

FYI

in the top header i have re-arranged the banners so it fits a small phone standing view.
same goes for the footer at the bottom.
the programming is not to my liking yet as some of the banners are to wide but I compress their width for now.
for above reasons I have decreased the layout from 1.0 down to 0.7. this might affect the font sizes i guess.

I am interested to hear about the posts when someone add a photo like above if it screws up the layout sideways.

So when you write tell us your

device type and size
portrait or landscape view
type of browser

other inputs you may have

Morgan,
I'm using an ipad4, and the issue is in landscape mode. In portrait view, the screen resizes itself correctly.
I'll check later using my iPad Pro.

I made a small change to the viewport startpage its now set to 0.8 std is 1.0
1.0 gets to big for the phones. Check your iPad and the 10" tablet if anything changed

Its much better now
For my ... Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 ... 9.7" ... in landscape mode
Not perfect but 80 to 90% there .

... its still a little too horizontal .

The dialog box is all now on the page ... at default non zoom ... with reply , quote , report , and email post buttons
just visible on the right margin

... and i can read the font again with my normal 1.5 readers
But The margin on the far right is rather sparse to missing ...
And if I zoom at all ... the buttons towards the right margin go missing ... and must be " right thumbed for "

I would expect to have to thumb right and left in normal mode ... with a smaller screen ,and do with my 5" cell phone screen .
but not so much .. with a bigger 10" screen .. in landscape ?

Anyway ,
Hope this doesn't sound too critical ,
I'm not trying to be .
Just providing some user feedback .

Ps , the banner ads at the top
only use the middle 3rd of that part of the page .
Is this all they are supposed to get . They look a little bit orphaned in that space
The left and right thirds are just blank .

Quinten,

You should be able to change the font size of your device. I don't own an S3 but I know I can do it on my iPad and iPhone. Following instructions are from Samsung so I cannot confirm.

To adjust the font size on your Samsung Tab 3 follow the steps outlined below:

1. From the Home screen tap Applications.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Display.
4. Tap Font size.
5. Choose your desired font size from Tiny, Small, Normal, Large or Huge.

Font size on most desktop browsers can be changed as well.
