Last Sunday, the Motts visited us.

Anna looked good; she has gained some much needed weight.

Melissa posted this picture and had some very kind words about my daughter Emma:

"When we honestly ask ourselves which persons in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares." Sometimes Melissa's posts are like a kick in the gut to me. This is one of those posts.

Lately I’ve come to realize that six years of the toll and stress of Anna’s brain tumor diagnosis and care has really taken its toll on me...physically and mentally.

Today when we were at the aquarium, we brought her music and headphones. Because what fun would she have?

We wheeled her down and parked her right in front of that large glass window, where the belugas played and swam right in front of her, and she saw nothing.

[Linked Image]

All I could do was think of all she was without, all she was unable to be a part of. I felt so mad, so forlorn, so guilty for being able to see it.

Then we got home and she had another episode of crying and grieving for her eyes. It’s heart wrenching for all of us. Talk about feeling powerless. And how do you answer the question of “Why me, momma?” You don’t.

But just guess what this child said to me after she had her cry out? She cheered herself, pulled herself up mentally as I sat beside, and exclaimed, “But I can be thankful, momma. I can hear music. I still have that.”

So my friends, if you are hurting, if you feel all is lost, if your best thing was taken, look around. That’s what Anna has taught me. You can find something to give thanks for. And it makes all the difference.

God Bless Anna Mott

I wonder what sounds she could have heard if a suction cup microphone were put on the aquarium glass?

Maybe these?

I think I will put together a set of headphones with a mic input, and a suction cup mic, and send them along for Miss Anna's Christmas!

Next trip to the aquarium will be different!

Well, after doing some homework, doesnt look like it will happen. The commonly available suction cup mics are for use on telephones and use an induction coil to pick up the audio.
This wont work on an aquarium window...

I'll keep looking, not sure if this will happen.

I'm in but waiting on my bonus so I know how much I can give this time. Helping my son finish up some more schooling is making things a little tight.

I still have some ANNA pins left. IF you want some just let me know and I'll get them to you. Contact me through my email at [email protected], I don't sign in here enough to keep up with PMs.

Scroll back through the thread and you'll see what the pins look like, I still have some of the "Anything for Anna" and "bb.com Friends of the Motts" pins.......I'm out of the " bb.com" pins and right now don't plan on doing any more of those.

Been in it for the long haul...........Gordon in NC

I rank this forum group outreach as perhaps the most worthwhile endeavor I have ever been privileged to be a part of.

Best Christmas wishes to the Motts, and here's to a better New Year in 2019.

Some of you folks keep coming back EVERY TIME........it's heart warming to know there are folks out there like you. I understand this isn't for everyone and you can't save the world...but this one is close to my heart and I want to thank EACH and EVERYONE of you that has given over the years......you are all special in my book.

Folks.......think about giving a little.....5$ adds up and that barely covers some coffees nowadays. Give a little, add your name to the list. We ( a collective group of BB.comers) adopted the Mott's a long time ago and to borrow ( and put a twist to) a phrase from one of Mike Carter's friends......" Once the Mott's are in your life, they are there to stay"

$5........it adds up......PLEASE consider it.

Tis the season.......consider giving a little please.

Hope to meet with Anna shortly after New Year’s Day. Hoping to crack the $4,000 barrier – maybe even get to $5,000?
