i have new SS fenders and rear fender 90 deg stays and straight front fender stays..i have a part number 42-6832 for rear fender bridge that bolts up under rear fender to attach stays but can't find any info on a similar item for front fender, parts book shows a looped stay that bolts directly under fender...no separate 'bridge' any help appreciated . thanks.

Two designs of front fenders were used on swing-arm GSs. Earlier ones had the type of stay you refer to (single piece front center and rear with bridge part of stay) and the other style was two separate pieces front, center and rear with bridge pieces welded to the guard (what is refereed to as the six tab fender). Sounds like you have a six tab stays(six separate stays) with an early style guard (no tabs on fender). That won't work.
