Recently had to tear down my DBD Goldie to replace the main bearings due to failure of one of them. Was wandering if any Forum members can let me know if this one went to Hap Alzina? Engine number DBD34GS4770, Frame number CB32 8912 fitted with a SCT Box. Thanks!

Thanks for your replies. Confusing to hear it was shipped as a Clubman's model as it appears to be a typical US model with said features, high bars, forward pegs etc?

Almost all of the "Clubman" Gold Stars sent to Hap Alzina were in this roadster trim. Very few actually showed up on the West Coast with clip-ons, rearsets and 4 gal tank but were still called a Clubman.

Clubmans trim 9,038 original miles. The original seat was huge and rounded at the back to fit tight on the fender. This was dubbed goldstar roadracer in many bsa brochures. If youre restoring, i will send you some closeups, one restorer in Ohio never knew the shocks were grey or that the tach drive was plated and not raw bronze.

Interesting,

My DB34 '56 was shipped as a Clubman to Hap Alzina, yet when I started chasing parts, a lot of them were Scrambler spec, according to the BMS parts list.
Guess he knew what would sell.
Oh, and my tach drive was painted silver. ????

All but one of my catalinas were shipped to Hap's. They all had a mag dyno, the one on the east coast had the racing mag. He must have figured on folks using them as dual purpose down the road?

My '60 Catalina came from California. It was sold new there. The paperwork from the Gold Star Owners Club registry stated it (but I don't remember the name of the west coast USA distributor )

It had no lighting, so I assume it was a magneto-only bike. Someone had welded "folding" footrests on the original solid mounts, per AMA competition regulations.

Hi west coast distributor was Hap Alzina he had more gold stars than enyone else.
