eBay listing 223136834985, by "cowboys iron" is a Triumph patent number badge, for pre-unit "650 TWIN."

He claims it is "NOS", though it is in L.F. Harris / TriCor packaging which would be REPRODUCTION, not technically "NOS." He lists it as "black ink on brass," and the photo shows it does have a brass finish.

HOWEVER, originals of that time were made of brass, but with a NICKEL SILVER finish with black background inlay.

YOU can get this "RARE" part for your bid of just $2,506.86 or more! (snicker!)

What I think is funny is the "people also viewed" right below the listing. Same part is avaialble for $20 including free shipping.

For the price the guy listed, he should give free shipping to the Man in the Moon.

$20 for a patent plate? They sell for $8 most of the time...

FWIW I' m glad that so many of my favorite sellers are leaving eBay. Unless a used part will do, and can be found on eBay, I prefer to deal directly. Prices are comparable, and I can deal directly with the seller if there is a problem.
Don't even get me started on Amazon.

"cowboy" often lists his parts at high prices, then whines that his health problems are the reason hw went into the eBay sales business.

Amazon- It's the greatest! Best lil' car ever! My ex wife could tune the carbs on the side of the road better than most guys could! Even I could park a pair nose to nose and single handedly swap motors back and forth in less than a package of cigarettes and still have it running!

Just looked at a bunch of his stuff, $156.99 seems to be his favorite price, but I was really tempted by the genuine reproduction Lucas tail light lens for only $1366.86. Is he really serious?? ohno

You can see a listing of his sold items. To the right of the "Search for anything" field, click on "Advanced". Then click on the "Sold items" check box. Scroll down to the section titled "Sellers" and enter "cowboysiron". Then click the "Search" button.

Prices seem a little high but I didn't see any really high priced items sold. There was an NOS tail light lens sold for $67.00. I would gladly pay that for NOS but it was a $15.00 reproduction. NOS go for $150.00.

I need money. Maybe I should try selling dog sh-i-t on eBay. My German Shepherd provides plenty of New Stock.

Wouldn't hurt to try right?

Seeing what's already on eBay, I think there's PLENTY of "dog sh-i-t" on there already, and not only on HIS site.

Here we go again, and once again, the seller is "cowboysiron," the item: eBay 323474426256,

One set of 8: NOS Triumph cylinder base nuts, 3/8 - 26

YOU can have ONE SET of these RARE items for ONLY... $502.41 .

NOT A MIS-PRINT. That IS what he's asking!

Last time (for the first listing) I went to his E-bay listing and saw many items priced at a just about 100 times average retail. I chose one, a universal fit brake switch and sent him a polite message: "Hi! I was looking at Triumph 650 parts, and stumbled across your listings. I believe you may be having computer problems- a good percentage of your items are coming up with prices at about 100 times what they normally sell for. Thought I'd drop you a note and make you aware that you may be having an issue with listing."

His first reply was asking me to call him. second reply a couple of days later was that he had fixed the universal brake switch price to correct it- down to about $15.00usd. "ITS FIXED TO NORMAL PRICE THANKS FOR POINTING THAT OUT "
I checked his other listings, he still had outrageous prices on almost all of them. At least I know I tried!
Sure wish E-bay had a "blocked sellers" list, permitting people to filter out results from particular sellers that aren't worth wasting the time on. (I have looked for this feature, but never found it). I know that I can select blocking certain results- by price, or location: and as a seller I can block individual bidders. I mentally have a list of sellers that I simply refuse to look at anything they list, I know I do I get tired of looking at hundreds of listings for a universal fit mirror from China when I type in "Triumph" as a search inquiry! What E-bay doesn't know, is that when those mirrors start piling up in a long line, interspersed with an occasional real part, I've already given up and am done looking for anything at that point- so NOBODY makes a sell.

Agreed, especially concerning the mirrors, always dumped in the "Triumph 650" category.

Like you, I give up and start looking in other categories.

According to those fools, EVERYTHING "fits Triumph."

i guess "cowboy' is like the guy who had one piece kleenex for sale for a million dollars, never could sell it.
When asked about the price the seller replied: "Yeah, it's priced high, but I only need to sell ONE."

(I guess that's "reasoning," of a sort.)
