I second that. I was just a Private E-2 when the movie Good Morning Vietnam came out and I saw it in the theater in Fayetteville, NC. That was in early 1988 !

Bodine031, were you in Vietnam ?

Glad you made it home safe!! Have you ever made it over here in April for the Nam reunion and Wall?? The Bunker in Cocoa has a mini replica of The Wall. Wife and I have seen the Traveling Wall here a few times, very impressive.

In 1967 I was a 19yr old with 1-A status and a draft number that all but assured that I would soon be a lottery winner.
I managed to sign up for the Navy one week before my draft notice showed up in the mail.
That decision began a long association with NAVAIR both in and out of the Service.
It turned out to be one of the best moves I ever made.

I couldn't imagine how my life would have turned out if I hadn't joined the Army...or the military in general...second choice was the Marines. Still serving at age 49 !!

I reported for induction at Newark NJ...and after training as a truck driver i would up at Ft Carson Colorado in a transportation company. I drove huge tractor trailers hauling tanks to depots in Denver and New Mexico.Hauled live cannon ammo in flatbed trucks at insane speeds on dirt roads. I worked at an Army vehicle issue yard and drove every military vehicle there was... And got to drive officers in green sedans...And drive a bus here and there...But I never cared for the fact I couln't just leave if I wanted to...

I just let it happen, and was drafted, parents said they wouldn't mind if I went to Canada. Went over in '68, extended for an early out. All in all, the Army set me straight, and pointed me to a lifetime career. I was Lucky. Still haven't been able to view the wall...........
Adrian Cronauer, that was a great movie. I wonder if there is a book on him, there WAS alot of deviation from policy if you were into that sort of thing.

Air Force from 65-69, Texas, Oklahoma then Korea (remember the Pueblo). Grew up a lot and paid for college when I got home. I've been to the Wall in Washington....it's really hard.....you just knew to many of the people engraved on the stone.....choke up just writing this. I couldn't do it again. I've seen the movie at least 5 times.
