Greetings!
I keep seeing images of custom RE/Indian 700/750s with high level pipes left & right. At Wauseon, someone tried to sell me a pair of BSA Hornet/Spitfire pipes saying that they had been "used " on an Enfield twin. The price was a bit dear for experimental purposes, so I did not venture the deal... I already have more than enough bits that were supposed to fit REs & don't! Anybody out there have any experience on this? If so, any ideas on reliable pipe builders still in business? I know, custom application...not standard...Blah, Blah, Blah, but...!

REgards!

I hate to say it, but having spent 2 years trying to get someone just to replicate the original high level pipes for my '37 model JF, I finally gave up ... no one I contacted in North America had a mandrel bender that could handle the tubing or a suitable bend radius. Best I could do was someone who was going to fab them up using pre-made mandrel bends, but I wanted something better than that ... smooth curves around a bend demand a lot of care, especially if there are are joints in the curve.

In the end I found some high level pipes made in the UK that had a similar center-line radius through the bends, and modded them myself to fit the bike. Yes, it was a lot of work.

Hi, Gregg!
Thanks for the response! I suspected as much! So the search goes on! BTW: I followed your ordeal with the exhaust and hats off to you for your many efforts! Nicely done, awesome machine! I just acquired an early OHV and a Flathead single as future projects, so I will be dealing similarly with exhaust systems at some point...

Thanks & REgards!
