Nice thumbsup

According to the map in the ad, it is located in Alpena, Michigan. It was also evident in the pics that it doesn't look like Miami. So, just use extra caution on this one if anyone here decides to pursue it.

The ad states, "The bike is located in Alpena Michigan" so maybe nothing sneaky going on. Still is odd to list on Miami Craig's List though.

Good point. Yes, strange it's on the Miami CL too.

Full text of the ad below:

This bike has been owned by the same owner since new in 63.

He rode it while in High School and again after coming home from the navy a few times.

It has been stored in a unheated house since around 1970 and has not ran

I think this was the first Norton made with an electric start option

It has about 5000 miles
It turns over with the kick start and has compression
The clutch seems to work
The brakes work - front and rear
The gas tank appears good in and out with what seems to be a repair near the fork
The seat is in pretty good condition
The throttle is operating
There does not seem to be any parts missing
The tires seem to hold air
The front fender and braces have quite a bit of rust
The front wheel has quite a bit of rust
The mufflers have holes in them although the pipes are great
The switches on the headlight confuse me especially the ignition switch
There is no key and Im not sure there ever was one
The owner said "just dump some gas in it and it will go" but after sitting for nearly 40 years I wont try that
I have not tried to put in a battery and the owner could not tell me if it was pos or neg ground
I did put some oil in it and there has been some drips on my garage floor
Please call or text with ANY questions
Overall a great solid bike for its age with a Michigan title and should make a fun project
The bike is located in Alpena Michigan

There's a place called Bad Axe in Mich? I would like to be a Bad Ass from Bad Axe. Don't think I'd want to be from Gaylord, though. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Very nice Electra.

I've been to Bad Axe, Alpena and Gaylord too. Been to Hell, Paradise and Christmas as well... all towns in Michigan. Don't blink when you pass through. Watch your speedo in Grayling. The State Police patrol on Yamaha super bikes.

Been to Gay Head, Massachusetts. This is a family friendly forum so enough said.

Intercourse, Pennsylvania. Anybody been there?

Oh, and if you have a bad ax in Michigan, you need to visit Grindstone City.

Certainly during the Cold War, the British Army trained around there. Friends in (then) the Royal Corps of Transport had this stamped in their passports (if you can imagine a square box rather than what the Forum software renders):-

As far as I know, nothing to do with the one in Norway.

Quoted from Wikipedia:

There are three theories for the origin of Hell's name. The first is that a pair of German travelers stepped out of a stagecoach one sunny afternoon in the 1830s, and one said to the other, "So schön hell!" (translated as, "So beautifully bright!") Their comments were overheard by some locals and the name stuck. Soon after Michigan gained statehood, George Reeves was asked what he thought the town he helped settle should be called and replied "I don't care. You can name it Hell for all I care." The name became official on October 13, 1841. Another theory is tied to the "hell-like" conditions encountered by early explorers including mosquitos, thick forest cover, and extensive wetlands.

Well, this bike didn't lose much time resurfacing on eBay !
As nice as it looks, it's still gonna take some not so cheap parts and a bit of work to get it really nice.
Chrome is shot on front fender and one rim.
Both mufflers rotted out.
Fuel tank dented and re-welded at the top.
Hopefully the engine/trans is in good condition..
