I have a Jones rear rim for my 1971 A65T. No rust a
little pitting. Chrome nice but has some rub marks in the
chrome down to the under plating. Bought a very nice
NOS front wheel assy that came with a Jones rim.
Bike came with Dunlops.

Looking for an original 37-3784 rim in NOS condition
(no issues with the chrome...no pitting &c) to match
the front wheel condition. However a Dunlop is
fine (don’t mind mix & match as I found out that could
happen at the factory).

Would like to buy a complete original NOS rear wheel
assembly if one could be found.

Thanks,

Van

Yup. One of my options although what has kept me
from doing so is I have no clue where to get it
done. Last time I got anything rechromed was 1983.
Of the two “local” places, both have bad reps.

Any suggestions for online chrome shops specializing
In motorcycles? Any idea what rechroming a rim costs?
Very open to that option.

Thanks

Check with Walridge Motors in Canada (site sponsor as well I think). I recently sent up some chrome bits to them for replating on the 1970 TR6C restoration I an working on, should be getting them back in the next week or so.

If you can find a chrome shop still in business they are reluctant to do rims because of the hollow outside bead that is probably full of rust. If you do find someone to do it make sure they don't over polish the lettering and having it disappear. If they say they can't save the lettering what's the point, then it's a no brainer to just buy a replacement.

Are you getting rims rechromed? I live in Virginia. Can’t imagine
What it would cost/take to get a job done in Canada
Thanks for the reply.

Good point. The rear rim does have rust and could very
Well be in the hollow rim part.

Back to looking for a rim or complete wheel assembly.
Someone has to have something here, in the UK, or ?
Anyone?

I really really like this forum. So many great members
With so much knowledge. Thanks to Don P. I
got a NOS DUNLOP WM3 18” 37-3784 rim. Perfect!
Members looking out for members!

I have a NOS rear hub. NOS galvanised spokes and
now rim to lace up. So both wheels are NOS which
I wanted. This was the final thing I needed to sort out.
Frame and various parts are going off to a Professional
Painter and then time to assemble the bike. Only thing
Still debating is too whether run an oil pressure gauge
From CBS or hook up the red oil lamp (light will be
Installed). Since I am keeping the bike I decided to
Remove the points ignition and run the Pazon IG
and a podronics regulator/rectifier (after spending
Money on NOS AAU, points breaker/plate, zenior,
regulator, and condensors). Don’t want to think
How much all those NOS parts cost....oh well.
How much money spent on a hobby is too much?!
Depends on what your wife knows. LOL
