Can anyone tell me what model of 2.5 gal metal tank will be a direct or near direct fit for my ā€˜69 B25S Starfire?

Should be interchangeable. Might have to change the contour on the saddle rubbers and perhaps get a shorter or longer spacer sleeve / bolt depending on tank. Also be careful as some A65 tanks will hit the rear frame cradle as they are longer

The current tank I have is a home market A65r 4.4 gal tank. It is huge and there is so much built up on the down tube to fill up the tunnel and make it sit right it just bugs me. Iā€™d like a smaller tank to fit the smaller bike.

The 1970 "arrowhead" tank will fit on B40's & B44's so it should drop onto a Starfire without problems.
The caveat on that is some unit single seats sit furter forward than others but if you have been running a 4 gal tank the the 2 gal one should be fine.

Fit a B44 alloy tank? They look nice on the B25 / C25 / TR25W
