Does this look like a side stand for vintage RE? The brackets look like motor mounts from a 700 or 750

What do you mean by 'vintage' here ?

The sidestand for my 40s Model J pivots from up above the rear wheel axle, and has always seemed a bit precariously tail heavy to me, so I mostly avoid it. Your stuff looks a lot later, like you say, but doesn't actually show if the pivot point is included in those motor mounts.
hth.

The mounts do resemble an Enfield, but I've never seen a side stand attached like that.
You might want to forward some of these photos to Hitchcocks Motorcycles in the UK.
If anyone would know if it's Enfield, they would.

Will work for Guinness smile

Greetings!
Unique to North America??? Most likely! "Anything" that came through the Springfield Indian facility could have had such an arrangement. Those look like Tomahawki/Trailblazer/Woodsman/Apache/Chief Front motor mounts. Factory? Who knows? I guess that the welded version could have been a factory Mod, but I strongly suspect it was fitted by Indian ( in Springfield, Mass.) as the welded fitment is precise and commonly seen here in the US on Enfield variants. To this day, the Vintage Indian and H-D catalogs show an identical bolt-on configuration for the front mount. The pictures match those in the Indian accessory booklets from the 50s & 60s. The leg as pictured has been altered from STD. Ungainly and ugly as heck, though, they do work well until someone tries to improve it!!! Personally, I have both Trailblazer and Chiefs fitted with the welded version and I hate them! Regardless of how well they work, the comments usually are: "What jack-leg came up with that set up?" Who knows?

REgards!

I believe there WAS a 250cc Indian Arrow in the mix of British bikes I brought home. I had the motor, frame, wheels and forks. All sold at Davenport a couple years ago. So possible it fit that bike. Thanks for the verification! You sound like you are in the know about this side stand, could you use it?

Scott

If no one else wants I'll take it. I just picked up a 1960 basket case single that could use a side stand.

You pay for the shipping and I will send it to you. Its just one of those unusual pieces that will lay around my shop for years and I will soon forget what its for. It already ran its course on eBay with no interest. Might as well put it to use.
