Hi, am helping date a friend's barn find. The engine number is like this

CC 18833 A65L

My preliminary research shows this number is severally wrong. It should start A65L - 1XX.

That A65L was only used for 1966 models.

Anyone able to confirm. I am trying to post a pic of the number here

Thanks Peter G

A65L is the model code of a Lightning used for several years. CC is the date code for March 1969.

Dear Larry, that is very helpful...but did BSA numbers go as high
high as 18833 for that single model?

Yes, they do..sorry I had lost my book, so forgot that in 69 they changed the numbering system.
