I understand the forecast in the mountains, there's always a high probability of rain squalls every afternoon.
However, the forecast from Thursday on is for rain, here, there, and everywhere in between. Sorry gents, but I'm not riding 6-8 hours in the rain to camp in the rain and ride back.
I had hoped to make this ride at last, but not this year.

I find that every time I let the weather forecast affect my plans, it turns out to be a beautiful day, with a little rain at the end (which fulfills the "100%") and I end up regretting it.

If it IS raining all day out and back, then I'll have 10 or 11 hours of it ... but life's an adventure anyway!

I stopped believing for a little while this morning. Journey is really going to be upset.

Yeah, maybe I should have stayed at Barber last year to see how the weather turned out on Sunday after they cancelled the races because of those forecasts.
Call me crazy, call me a wimp, but I remember riding in the rain to BIBR and spending the whole weekend in the rain. No fun!

I want to ride on nice days. It's a hobby, not a life style.
Hope y'all have fun no matter the weather. bigt

I find that the quality of riding gear has a BIG impact on my enjoyment riding in the weather...I bought some new rain gear and riding boots late last year. After a couple of wet rides yesterday and today, It was worth every penny (and it was a lot of pennies!).

Having breakfast with a few fine folks in Mountain City right now! Cloudy but no rain at the moment..

Cheers,

Steve

Money well spent is always worth it... and quality rain gear for mo'sicklin or anything else is money well spent.

You were right. I tempted fate with my "100% chance of rain just means it might rain once during the day".

And I doomed us all to constant, continuous, flood-level rains.

Pics and report soon ... !

I have a couple of pre-ride pics from the campground at Shady Valley, but it was just TOO wet to even pull the camera out!

Pretty sure MikeG has a group shot from the lunch stop, will have to wait for that.

Sorry to hear that. I do hope to make this ride next year. After all, I only bought the Beemer with hopes of coming two years ago.
Might just have to ride over there on my own. When are the Highland Games?
