Well here it is. The night before. I’m almost all loaded up. The bike has new Tutoro chain Oiler installed to keep its DID 530 o ring chain oiled. The handle bar wind screen has been borrowed from another bike. This year I’m going to use the cell phone for sat nav. I’m using the Quadlock system for my iPhone. With it I’m listening to music, listening to directions, and can take phone calls. So if you want to call I can chat at 404-791-0704. Also The Quadlock system affords some on the bar weather protection for my iPhone. I’ve got Maps.me and Waze installed. I really like Waze but unfortunately it’s a battery hog.

The bike has some other mods on it to help with stop and stop Atlanta driving. I’ll let y’all look over the bike when I get to Blowing Rock to discover what it is. smile

Tomorrow I may be up before dawn to beat the traffic out of town. Pictures tomorrow.

Where I end up I know not but I’ve got my tent.

Gosh I hope so Bryan.😇

Rabbit town Cafe for Breakfast. My rain cover blew off the tail bag taking the dratted bungee cord with it.

Bike is purring.

Whoa.

Today is going to be one of those special days.

I don’t know if I’m going to make Windys. We will see. My original plan was to go up the blue ridge parkway till I needed to turn left to go over Roan Mtn. I may just head to blowing rock and the comforts of civilization.

If I sent a text to my wife and she happened to be in her car and the translator was turned on it would say this in the voice of John Cleese.....

( fish fish fish fish fish fish motorcycle fish fish fish fish fish fish fish fish fish....... )

Carry on regardless! I looked on the map but couldn't see you under all the yellow and green radar rain clouds!

Overhauling my wet gear as we speak ... !

Ah it was quite wet this morning. The blue ridge parkway was into and out of wind rain and fog until Little Switzerland at about 1:30pm where upon I pulled off for lunch. And lo and behold the sky’s parted and the road to Roan became dry so I headed north across Roan Mountain into Tennessee. Got into Shady Valley about 5pm. Bill Richard and Windy formed the welcome committee. And no rain. So the tent is up and and we are sitting around an empty fire ring. Somebody brought out the apple pie. All in all a very satisfying day on a BSA.

Glad it worked out at least that well and you rode out of the rain for the day!

An old Brit humming along in its natural environment (the rain) can be somewhat satisfying after you've had some dry clothes ...

Talked Windy into leading us over Whitetop Mountain. Got a bit rainy and cooled of from 70 to about 60 degrees. In Damascus twice. Beginning to get a bit busy. Lovely day for ride.

The first time we went to Damascus the sky was black as night and the rain was biblical, was expecting to meet Noah at any time!

Sounds like fun... heck, I KNOW it's fun. Carry on and post pix! I g try Norton back after having much needed work done on it. Couldn't make TSMR but I WILL be "oot n aboot". Weather permitting, I may ride it to the Brit & Euro Classic Bike Day in the morning, to assist in celebrating 50 years of the Norton Commando .

Five straight days of rain could not dampen the riding. Had wild adventures getting home. The 62 died in Ashville. Was not charging in either off low or high. Wobbly disconnected the headlamp bulb and WALLA it came alive in high. Made it home following Richard and Lownds Watley on their BMW’s. Once again there was rain.

I’m diagnosing tomorrow. Either a bad rm13 stator or a bad rectifier. I have a Paul Geoff Reg6 regulator and a spare Rm21 on the shelf so I may just make the change. It would be nice to know what died.

Anybody know how much AC VOLTS a RM13 2000 to 3000 rpms?

Thanks SG that was fun!!!! I did the "I need more brake" on my 69 T-150, A disc brake T-160 front end fixed that. I do believe having a "gadget" on the handle bar of a vintage Brit bike is way illegal!! Better spot would be on your person. God forbid you and the handle bar part ways on a road like you filmed the ride on.
How's R-3 doing???

I am bemused by the comments from having my cell phone (used to be a garmin) on my handlebar of a really old bike.

It’s an integrated system sir the Sena 10c and my iPhone: Music, comms with other riders, comms with the outside world, navigation, Weather radar and proof of life for old bikes (video). Unfortunately the Quadlock system while supar convenient is not BSA approved. The attach point was chewing itself to bits with the vibration during the TSMR. So while I will keep the impact and weather protection of the case, I’m going back to the RAM mount X-mount. Those little rubber pegs do a wonderful job and are BSA vibration approved!

Btw - if I do get separated from the phone on the handle bar I can speed dial 911 from the Sena. A really nice feature that I have used once already. There are three phone numbers saved on the Sena, my wife, my house and 911. This of course assumes there will be cell phone service....😏

Sena has a new version of the 10c that will download the video straight to the iPhone so that the NSA can view Norton’s and A10s in the rain in real time. That way if something bad happens I can always file FOI request for the video from that facility they have built out in Utah. 😎

R3 is still smoking. I’ve been told to just ride it but I won’t do this in a crowd (like the three state - that wouldn’t be nice).

And now perhaps another video.....

No wonder you didn't recognize the second one ... neither you nor I had ever been on that section of road, I believe - it's a piece of US221 we took because the big viaduct on the Parkway was closed .... and US221 turned out to be closed too!

I have no idea what you a saying?? Sena to me was great F1 driver sadly killed. My 15 dollar Trac-Fone rides in my pocket and I pay $$21.00 every 3 months for 90 minutes of air/talk time which has rolled over to 700+ minutes over the years. I'm not a gadget person, and still ride in your area with a compass and paper map. I did go "modern" in 03 with the purchase of my Bonneville!!
My T-150 like your R-3 are both old enough to smoke!!!!
